Regulatory Simulation vs RegTech

RegTech manages regulatory obligations. Regulatory simulation tests regulatory consequences.

RegTech

Regulation

How do we comply?

Obligations are known. The work is to operate them reliably and evidence that operation.

Regulatory simulation

Institution + Regulation + Proposed decision

What happens if we do this?

Obligations are not yet known, because the decision has not been made. The work is to test the potential regulatory delta of each option.

Side by side

Two categories, two points in the decision

Reglator is distinct from conventional RegTech, and complementary to it. Most institutions will need both: simulation to decide, RegTech to operate.

Common questions

Questions this page answers

What is RegTech?

RegTech is technology that helps regulated institutions manage the obligations they already carry — monitoring, screening, reporting, controls testing and evidence. It operates after a business decision has been made.

How is regulatory simulation different from RegTech?

Regulatory simulation operates before the decision. It takes the institution, the regulatory environment and a proposed decision, and tests what could change in the institution's regulatory position if that decision were executed.

Do institutions need both?

Yes. The categories are complementary. Simulation informs whether and how a decision should be made; RegTech helps operate the obligations that result from it.

Is Reglator a compliance monitoring tool?

No. Reglator does not monitor obligations or automate compliance workflows. It is regulatory simulation infrastructure used at the point of decision.
